Biosafety Considerations in the use of Genetically Modified Organisms for Management of Animal Populations

Modern biotechnology can provide innovative approaches to management of animal populations, but what about potential risks? This forum will facilitate exchange of views on a range of important issues including the use of GM microorganisms, nematodes and insects for biological control; the use of GM viruses to protect mammal populations against disease; and the use of GM insects for reducing disease transmission rates. This discussion forum has been hosted on the Biosafety Clearing-House from 18 October to 15 November 2004.
